bluebalance® hydrogen generator
The bluebalance® hydrogen generator is a handy, mobile device that allows you to enrich your water with hydrogen gas at home or on the go. Ideal for anyone who already has a reverse osmosis system at home, for example, which removes all pollutants from the water, but is not able to turn it into an effective antioxidant by adding hydrogen gas.

Hydrogen - an important building block for our health
Despite its small size, hydrogen is particularly important for our health. In 2007, a study that was unique at the time was published in the renowned journal "Nature Medicine" which proved that hydrogen converts harmful hydroxyl radicals into water and can therefore be used as a therapeutic antioxidant. (Ikuroh Ohwawa, et al.: Study "Hydrogen acts as a therapeutic antioxidant by selectively reducing cytotoxic oxygen radicals", published in 2007 in "Nature Medicine".)
Hydrogen is probably the most effective antioxidant in our body and can be used to prevent and support the treatment of various diseases, such as inflammation, metabolic disorders, skin problems, neurological diseases, rheumatism, diabetes and many more. The number of studies on the effects of hydrogen has increased exponentially. Over a thousand studies, reviews and scientific reports show that hydrogen has potential as a medicinal agent.
In addition, further studies have shown that the electrosmog that surrounds us is also responsible for oxidative stress. In today's world, it is almost impossible to stay away from the disruptive vibrations caused by Wi-Fi, mobile internet, cell phones, computers and other sources of electrosmog.

Antioxidant effect
Free radicals and oxidative stress
Free radicals are created through natural processes, such as breathing or physical exertion and sport. The body is able to create a healthy balance (oxidative homeostasis) for the amount of naturally occurring free radicals through redox regulation.
On the other hand, external factors such as UV radiation, pollution, poor eating habits, smoking and alcohol also lead to an increase in free radicals. The exponentially increased exposure to electrosmog should not be underestimated, as it also promotes the formation of free radicals. If there are not enough antioxidant protective mechanisms to break them down, oxidative stress occurs in the body.
Inflammatory reactions, infections and chronic diseases can also lead to the development of oxidative stress. This in turn can impair the immune system and promote the development of acute and chronic diseases and premature aging. This can lead to a kind of vicious circle in which oxidative stress and the associated stresses are mutually dependent and supportive.
Drinking water as an antioxidant
In order to counteract oxidative stress, it is important to help the body neutralize free radicals using antioxidant substances. A diet with a balanced intake of micro- and macronutrients plays a major role in this. Vitamins in fruit and vegetables are particularly important in this context.
Enriching drinking water with hydrogen gas means that the water is able to act as an antioxidant and neutralize free radicals due to the resulting negative redox potential. To do this, the previously neutral hydrogen changes its oxidation level to +1 and thus has a reducing effect. This also helps your body to avoid oxidative stress.
Studies
Studies have shown that hydrogen reacts specifically with the particularly aggressive hydroxyl radicals. This reaction only produces water for neutralization. A major advantage is that hydrogen molecules are extremely small and therefore have a particularly high penetration and diffusion capacity. This means they can penetrate the intracellular space and even the mitochondria. For comparison: the antioxidant vitamin C is 176 times heavier than a hydrogen atom and the coenzyme Q 10 is even 863 times heavier.
Up until 2007, there were only 50 studies that looked at the physiological influence of hydrogen. This has now fundamentally changed. The most intensive research into hydrogen is mainly carried out in China and Korea. Unfortunately, research in this area is still in its infancy in Germany. In Korea, hydrogen is now added to 10% of commercially available (mineral) water. There are currently over a thousand studies, all of which - including randomized double-blind studies - prove the positive effects of hydrogen. H2 production through electrolysis
Electrolysis means that water is split into its individual components by applying an electrical voltage between two platinum electrodes. The simplified equation for this process is:
2H2O (water) –> 2 H2 (molecular hydrogen gas) + O2 (oxygen gas)
Enrichment is primarily not about the amount of hydrogen gas, but about its distribution. In the bluebalance® device, the hydrogen is distributed extremely finely in the water, thus ensuring a negative redox potential that can be detected over several hours.
To use, fill the water to be enriched into the 330 ml container provided or another suitable bottle. Suitable adapters for different bottle sizes are included in delivery.
Screw the base of the bluebalance® device onto the bottle and place it so that the bottle is upside down in the device. Now start the process by simply pressing a button.
The water hits the built-in electrolysis unit through the bottle opening. Molecular hydrogen gas is produced at the negatively charged electrode (cathode), which is finely distributed in the water. Oxygen gas is produced at the positively charged electrode (anode), which is released into the lower part of the base part with some condensate.
After the process, simply unscrew the water bottle and enjoy your hydrogen water.
Redox potential in mVolt
The initial amount of dissolved hydrogen gas immediately after enrichment is about 800 ppb (parts per billion). The measured redox potential is then about -240 mVolt. After three hours, about -120 mVolt can still be detected. Untreated tap water usually has about +500 to +800 mVolt.
The redox potential is a measure of how easily a compound absorbs or releases electrons. The lower the mVolt value, the easier it is to neutralize free radicals. Breast milk, for example, has a redox potential of -33 mVolt, and amniotic fluid even has a value of -69 mVolt.
Hydrogen gas is needed for numerous processes in our body:
- as fuel in our cells to generate energy
- as a protective and repairing antioxidant
Beta-carotene is said to have particularly good antioxidant properties. Drinking 1.5 liters of hydrogen water (500 ppb or more) has the same antioxidant power as eating about 35 carrots.
